Introduction to hand-building with clay at Vigour and Skills in Burford
Suitable for all abilities, this relaxed Thursday evening workshop (6.30-9pm) is a great way to slow down at the end of the day and spend a few hours working with clay. Designed for beginners and those with some experience, it will introduce you to the fundamentals of hand-building in a calm, supportive setting.
During the session, you’ll make up to three unique pottery pieces. Starting with a pinch pot, you’ll then shape a small bowl and a vase or candleholder using traditional hand-building techniques.
All materials are provided, including light stoneware clay, sculpting tools, and wooden boards. You’ll also be able to choose your glaze finish on the day.
Once finished, your pieces will be dried and fired twice (first bisque, then glaze) and will be ready to collect approximately three weeks after the workshop.
For those who would like to add a finishing touch, there is the option to apply a 24-carat gold lustre to the rim of your pots. This can be booked in advance when reserving your place (£12 per piece), or you can decide on the day.
